John Miller photoJohn Miller is Professor of Economics, Wheaton College, and a Contributing Editor to .

Professor Miller’s talk will look back at the April 2013 in Bangladesh that cost over 1000 garment workers their lives, and the reforms that have been initiated since the disaster.

He will look closely at the legally binding ”Bangladesh Fire and Safety Accord” initiated by European retailers that makes retailers and subcontractors jointly liable for conditions in their factories. He will assess the Accord’s effectiveness and the effectiveness of other reforms, where they have fallen short, and what more needs to be done make the global garment industry safe and sustainable.
