November 11: John Miller, “An Economic Revival for the Many Not Just the Few”

John Miller photoJohn Miller is a at Wheaton College. His talk will address the subject of growing economic inequality that increasingly plagues the United States and other western industrialized nations.

A nexus of inequality, elite power, and a leave-it-to-the-market ideology lies behind the worsening economic conditions for most people and recurring economic instability that have defined today’s economy. Breaking into that vicious circle by expanding universal social programs, revitalizing the labor movement, and reshaping globalization, can transform (or at least begin to transform) that nexus into a virtuous circle of progress. These arguments are developed more fully in (2011), which Miller co-authored with Arthur MacEwan.
